💡 Tips & Best Practices
Organization Tips
- Use Categories Wisely: Create categories based on use case (Support, Sales,
Social) rather than by topic
- Featured Scripts: Only mark your most-used 10 scripts as featured to avoid
clutter
- Naming Convention: Use clear, descriptive titles that you'll recognize at a
glance
- Regular Cleanup: Review and delete unused scripts monthly
Productivity Hacks
- Template Variables: Use placeholders like [NAME] or [ORDER_ID] in your
snippets, then search/replace after pasting
- Emoji Library: Create a category of commonly used emojis and symbols for
quick access
- Email Signatures: Store multiple email signatures for different contexts
- Code Snippets: Save frequently used code blocks, commands, or SQL queries
- Canned Responses: Perfect for customer support - create replies for common
questions
Team Usage
- Export/Import: Create a "team template" and share via export/import
- Standardize Responses: Ensure consistent messaging across team members
- Onboarding: Provide new team members with pre-configured snippets
- Version Control: Keep exported JSON files in version control
Security & Privacy
- No Sensitive Data: Don't store passwords or sensitive information in
snippets
- Regular Backups: Export your data regularly
- Review Permissions: Extension only accesses pages you've allowed
- Local Storage: All data stays in Chrome sync storage - never sent to
external servers
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Is my data safe?
Yes! All your snippets, notes, and settings are stored in Chrome's sync storage. Nothing is sent
to external servers. Your data syncs between your Chrome browsers using Google's encrypted sync.
Does it work on all websites?
The extension can work on any website, but you control which sites show the floating widget via
the Websites tab. Some sites with strict Content Security Policies may limit functionality.
Can I use it on mobile?
Currently, Chrome extensions are not supported on mobile browsers. Tic Text Toc is
desktop-only.
How many snippets can I create?
There's no hard limit, but Chrome's sync storage has a 100KB quota. This allows for hundreds of
snippets. If you hit limits, use shorter snippets or export/import for archival.
Can I sync across different computers?
Yes! As long as you're logged into Chrome with the same Google account and sync is enabled, your
data automatically syncs across all your devices.
Why isn't the paste button working?
Some websites block automated pasting for security. In these cases, use the Copy button and paste
manually with Ctrl+V. The extension tries multiple paste methods but can't bypass all
restrictions.
Can I customize the keyboard shortcuts?
Yes! Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts in Chrome and find Tic Text Toc. You can
customize or disable the default shortcuts.
Does it work in incognito mode?
By default, no. To enable: Go to chrome://extensions/ → Find Tic Text Toc → Details
→ Enable "Allow in incognito". Note that your data won't sync in incognito mode.
